Stage Floors

Floors_pic_8.jpgThe Lensic maintains several types of floors that can be used to satisfy the needs of our varied performances. The permanent floor of the venue is blonde colored one-inch thick maple hardwood installed on sleepers over concrete.

Fourteen removable trap door panels are located around the central areas of the stage. No fasteners may be placed in any of our floors.

To accommodate shows requiring a durable black floor, we maintain a stock of black painted and sealed tempered masonite. The masonite is overlaid to color and protect the maple hardwood floor. This floor is often used for tap, folklorico, and theatrical performances.
The floor is installed by taping onto the stage floor.

Floors_pic_2.jpgFor those in need of a sprung floor, the theatre maintains a D’anser basket weave floor with edge ramps. The sprung floor covers the entire performance area. This is typically installed for ballet and modern dance when a more dynamic state floor is required.

Our vinyl dance floors are all made by Harlequin. We have three different floors in our stock. Two are reversible floors with black/gray and black/white surfaces. The third floor is used exclusively for ballet and modern dance and is a black Cascade floor.
