Never in Santa Fe has there been a concert of this scope. Five international classical marimba virtuosos will perform solo marimba and ensemble works for a night of unprecedented talent. From Japan, Nanae Mimura is known throughout the world for her deft touch and beautiful tone on the marimba. She will delight us with her arrangements of pieces by Holst, Richard Rogers and excerpts from Riverdance. The world renowned Chin Cheng Lin (Taiwan) and Ludwig Albert (Belgium) will perform the gorgeous Silk Road by Chin Cheng Lin for two marimbas, mezzo soprano and string quartet. The second half will open with Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in D Minor with Pius Cheung and string quartet. From Canada, Mr. Cheung is a true virtuoso and his interpretation of this beloved concerto is nothing but amazing. Kevin Bobo defies any concepts of the limitations of the marimba. His flawless technique and incredible command of the instrument is beyond words. He will be playing a lyrical solo marimba composition of his own dedicated to his infant daughter, and another work of his featuring marimba and percussion ensemble. Ticket Prices: $20, $25, $30, $40, $45, $50 |
