Not for nothing that since its premiere at SXSW 2012, Kevin and Matthew McManus’s FUNERAL KINGS has nabbed comparisons to both “Stand By Me” and “Superbad.” Following a group of foul-mouthed, angel-faced, middle school altar boys who stumble upon some dangerous gangsta dealings led by the local video store owner (a perfectly cast Kevin Corrigan), the McManus brothers’ astonishingly assured debut also plays like Tarantino channeled through the mouths of babes. - Lauren Wissot
