AMP Concerts presents

AMP Concerts presents "Weird Al" Yankovic

May 6, 2018   7:30 PM

Tickets go on sale Friday, October 20th at 12 pm.

“Weird Al” Yankovic burst onto the scene over three decades ago and never looked back.  For the first time in his storied career, the world’s foremost musical satirist and four-time Grammy-winner foregoes his usual high-octane, big-production show for an intimate evening of music, focusing on original (non-parody) songs from his 14-album catalog.  After his 2016 world tour, including venues such as the Hollywood Bowl and Radio City Music Hall, this is a rare opportunity to get up-close and personal with this legendary performer.

Weird Al’s most recent album Mandatory Fun was the first comedy album in history to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.  In 2018 he will be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On sale for AMP Members Thursday, October 19th, 2017 at 10 am - Click here to become an AMP Member today!

School for Advanced Research presents Elizabeth Kolbert Lecture: The Fate of the Earth

School for Advanced Research presents Elizabeth Kolbert Lecture: The Fate of the Earth

June 1, 2018   6:00 PM

Extinction rates today are hundreds, perhaps thousands of times higher than they have been through most of the history of life. There many seemingly causes for this, including climate change, habitat destruction, ocean acidification, and invasive species and poaching. But trace these back, and inevitably you arrive at the same culprit: us.

There have been five mass extinctions over the last half a billion years. It increasingly appears that humans are bringing about a sixth. Among the critical questions this raises are: can we arrest this process? If we knew what to do, would be willing to do it? What does the future look like on biologically impoverished planet?

Come hear Pulitzer Prize winning journalist talk about her book, The Sixth Extinction, and the fate of the earth. She will engage in a conversation and question and answer session with Dr. Michael Brown, President, SAR, and Terry Sullivan, State Director, The Nature Conservancy in New Mexico. A cash bar reception and book signing will follow in the lobby of the Lensic.
