The California Guitar Trio and Montreal Guitar Trio fuse more than 40 years of combined performing experience into a phenomenal six-by-six-string ensemble. California Guitar Trio’s steel-stringed guitars blend beautifully with Montreal Guitar Trio’s nylon-stringed guitars as each trio chases the other through original compositions and new arrangements of progressive rock, world, jazz, and classical music.

California Guitar Trio

Since 1991, the California Guitar Trio has enthralled listeners with a singular sound that fearlessly criss-crosses genres. The musicians love to explore the intersections between rock, jazz, classical, and world music, and even throws in an occasional surf or spaghetti Western tune for good measure.

Trio members Bert Lams (from Brussels, Belgium), Hideyo Moriya (from Tokyo, Japan), and Paul Richards (from Salt Lake City) met in 1987, when they were studying with iconic King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp. The three formed the California Guitar Trio in 1991, and over the years they have established a unique, personal connection with audiences. In addition to dazzling musicianship and interplay, their shows are full of captivating stories and humor that allow concertgoers to feel like they're part of the music, not just spectators.

California Guitar Trio songs have served as the soundtrack for Olympics coverage and programs on CNN, CBS, NBC, and ESPN. The group has fans in high places too: NASA used California Guitar Trio music to wake the crew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor.

California Guitar Trio has recorded more than 15 albums, most recently “Komorebi, ” released in November 2016 on the Pepa Paldo Music label.

Montreal Guitar Trio

Described by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as the hottest guitar ensemble in Canada, the Montreal Guitar Trio has quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with.  For more than 15 years, the trio’s virtuosity, rigor, creativity, and impressive stage presence have been winning over audiences around the world. Comprising Montreal guitarists Marc Morin, Sébastien Dufour, and Glenn Lévesque, the trio has collaborated and shared the stage with world-renowned ensembles and artists.

Winner of the 2011 Opus Award for Concert of the Year in the Jazz/World Music category, the Montreal Guitar Trio has released six albums. The group’s latest, “Danzas,” a collection of Spanish guitar music, will be released on February 3 by Analekta, Canada’s largest independent classical music recording label.
