The Lensic Earns Coveted Four-Star Rating
From Charity Navigator for Second Consecutive Year

Rating from trusted nonprofit evaluator recognizes
financial responsibility and commitment to accountability

(Santa Fe, N.M., July 6, 2017) – The Lensic Performing Arts Center’s strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent nonprofit/charity evaluator.

This is the second consecutive year The Lensic has earned this top distinction, which is awarded to only about a quarter of the 8,000+ organizations Charity Navigator evaluates.

“It’s important that people who invest in The Lensic know we’re using their donations wisely to accomplish our mission, which is to enrich lives by bringing diverse art and people together in the historic Lensic theater,” said Joel Aalberts, executive director at The Lensic. “Our four-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters our good governance and financial accountability.”

“The Lensic’s exceptional four-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” according to Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Based on its four-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support The Lensic.”

Charity Navigator assigns ratings after objectively analyzing a nonprofit’s financial documents and scoring it on 17 metrics that assess whether it follows best practices of governance and ethics. Charity Navigator accepts no advertising or donations from the organizations it evaluates, ensuring unbiased evaluations, and it does not charge the public for accessing the resulting data.
