A HITCHCOCK WEEKEND
The Birds & Vertigo

May 28-29, 7 p.m.

Santa Fe – The Lensic Performing Arts Center is proud to present A Hitchcock Weekend, featuring two films from the master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock; The Birds on Friday, May 28 at 7 p.m. and Vertigo on Saturday, May 29 at 7 p.m. The films will be shown in high definition.

The 1963 film The Birds, based on the 1952 novella of the same name by Daphne du Maurier, is the tale of a small California town which is subjected to a series violent and unexplainable bird attacks. The film’s special effects, created under the direction of Disney animator Ub Iwerks, were nominated for an Academy Award in 1963.

Vertigo was released in 1958 and is based on the novel D’entre les morts by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac. It is the story of a retired police detective who suffers from acrophobia, who is hired to follow the wife of an old friend and discover the meaning of her strange behavior. Despite its lukewarm critical reception at the time of release, Vertigo’s acclaim has grown with time and has become known as one of Hitchcock’s masterpieces. Vertigo currently holds a place on the American Film Institute’s list of Top 100 American Films.

Big Screen Classics are sponsored by Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
