Nuestra Música

Beloved Celebration of New Mexico’s Traditional Music
Returns to The Lensic

Saturday, February 17, 2018

Santa Fe, NM – The Lensic and the Spanish Colonial Arts Society proudly present Nuestra Música on Saturday, February 17, at 7 pm. The beloved annual celebration of New Mexico’s folk music returns to The Lensic, after a one-year hiatus, with a line-up of beloved local performers:

Roberto Mondragon y Amigos
Frank McCulloch y Amigos
Cipriano Vigil y La Familia Vigil
Antonia Apodaca and Friends
 —and new this year—
Lone Piñon

Nuestra Música is coordinated by Northern New Mexico natives Kevin Korte, an attorney and musician, and his wife, Miquela Korte, a teacher who is the education coordinator at the Spanish Colonial Arts Society. The couple are just two of many voices that help continue the tradition of Nuestra Música that was led previously by music historians Jack Loeffler and Enrique Lamadrid.

“Nuestra Musica is the music of our gente,” says Miquela Korte. “These are the songs that have helped generations of Nuevo Mexicanos create a unique culture that embodies who we are, where we come from, what we are connected to, and what makes us truly valuable and unique. It tells our gente’s stories.”
